THE BUSINESS OF BRAND MANAGEMENT offers in-depth insights into the topics of brand strategy, brand management, brand communication and brand implementation. The platform is aimed at brand managers who are looking for practical guidance on the key aspects of brand management. The Business of Brand Management (tbobm.com) was founded and developed by Günther Misof, with the support of Dr. Michael Schwarz and Cecilie Schjerven in the initial phase. In 2024, Johannes Frederik Christensen took over the role of Editor-in-Chief.

Johannes Frederik Christensen supports companies in recognizing and strategically exploiting the potential of their brands. After long stints at Interbrand in Zurich and New York – one of the world’s leading brand consultancies – he founded his own consultancy boutique Dichter + Denker in 2023. Thanks to his intercultural experience from working with local and international companies on three continents, he has a broad spectrum of expertise in brand and corporate development. Whether in the management of complex brand projects or as a sparring partner for CMOs, he is convinced that brands are becoming increasingly relevant and often represent one of the greatest competitive advantages for companies. His clients include Europe’s most successful consumer tech start-up, the manufacturer of the world’s lightest aircraft seats and one of Germany’s largest cities. A Dortmund native at heart, a cosmopolitan at work, a keen field field hockey player, Vespa enthusiast and coffee drinker, he currently lives in the beautiful Hanseatic city of Hamburg.

Günther Misof has more than forty years of experience as founder, managing director and managing partner of various consulting firms (Frankfurt am Main and New York) in the development, management and implementation of brands. In addition to his expertise in business administration, marketing and marketing communication (studies with Dr. Marinus M. Stadler and Wolfgang Sarasin), he also has a professional background in photography / design. From 1973 to 1993, he was one of the most renowned fashion photographers in Germany. He successfully implemented his visionary “Integral Strategies” approach in the early 1990s with interdisciplinary teams from his former companies (CDC Consulting, CDC Design, CDC Digital Media, CDC Communications). For more than fifteen years, the focus of his work has been on the organizational aspects of brand management. He is one of the founding fathers of the discipline “Brand Implementation”.
